Background to the 11 Plus Exam in Greater Manchester
There are seven Grammar Schools in Greater Manchester that children will need to take an 11 Plus Exam to get into.
Altrincham Grammar School for Boys St Ambrose College
Altrincham Grammar School for Girls Stretford Grammar School
Loreto Grammar School Urmston Grammar Academy
Greater Manchester 11 Plus Exam Format Details
In Greater Manchester there are 5 schools that make up the Trafford Grammar Schools Consortium which means that children applying to any of these five schools only have to take the 11plus test once. They have decided to move away from CEM and towards GL Assessment for entry in 2024 and beyond. This assessment will have two papers including:
- Maths
- Verbal Reasoning
- Non Verbal Reasoning
Loreto Grammar School have their own test for entry which is comprised of both GL Assessment and themselves. This entrance exam is multiple choice and includes:
- Verbal Reasoning
- Maths
- English
St Ambrose College have their own test for entry which is comprised of both GL Assessment and themselves. This entrance exam is multiple choice and includes:
- Verbal Reasoning
- Maths
- English
